Haaknaald, Pepita en koninginnen
Wat een lekker weer is het weer vandaag! We boffen toch wel deze week!
Een tijdje geleden vroeg ik mijn lezers hoe zij hun haaknaald vasthouden, met de mesgreep of de pengreep.
Ik kreeg op dat bericht 11 reacties. Met mezelf meegerekend dus 12 mensen. Daarvan gebruiken er 9 de mesgreep en 3 de pengreep (van wie er eentje ook af en toe de mesgreep gebruikt). We kunnen dus wel concluderen dat de mesgreep veruit het populairste is! :-)
Verder heeft Pepijn een vriendinnetje gekregen, hier is Pepita :-)
Pepita is groter omdat ze gemaakt is met dikker garen (Lidl merkloos katoen) en een grotere haaknaald (3.5). Ze heeft ogen van knoopjes.
Geïnspireerd door de oude foto's en filmpjes die ze op Koninginnedag lieten zien, wilde ik eens wat meer lezen over de koninginnen Emma en Wilhelmina. De bieb had wat en van vrienden kon ik twee dikke pillen lenen - ik kan vooruit!

Some time ago I asked my readers how they hold their crochet hook, with the 'knife grip' (mesgreep) or the 'pen grip' (pengreep).
11 people reacted to my question, with me that makes a total of 12. Of those, 9 use the knife grip and 3 the pen grip (one of them uses the knife grip too sometimes). So the conclusion has to be that the knife grip is most popular here!
Pepijn had got a girlfriend: Pepita :-) Pepita is bigger because she is made of thicker yarn (Lidl cotton) and a larger needle (3.5 mm). Her eyes are buttons.
Inspired by the pictures that were shown on Coronation Day I wanted to read about the Queens Emma and Wilhelmina. I borrowed some books from the library and two big books from my friends. I certainly have enough to read for now!

mooi garen gekocht
Ik wil een paar sjaals of 'cowls' gaan maken om op kleding te dragen (dus niet voor over mijn jas met koud weer, maar voor het 'mooi') en zocht naar geschikt garen daarvoor. Ik koos voor Cotton Viscose van Drops. Ik heb de bestelde bolletjes ontvangen. Ze zaten heel handig vacuum-gezogen in een platte doos zodat ze door de brievenbus konden :-)
Het is een prachtig zacht, glanzend, koel garen. Ik kan niet wachten er mee te gaan werken. Maar ik ben nog op zoek naar het ideale patroon :-)
Ik ga er een met roze tinten maken en eentje met blauwe.
I want to make some shawls or cowls to wear on my clothes (so not for outdoors to keep warm) and was looking for suitable yarn. I chose Cotton Viscose by Drops. When I received the balls they were very handily vacuumed so they fit in the letter box.
After opening the bag and letting the air in, they looked like this. :-)
It's a beautiful soft, shining, cool yarn. I can't wait to start working with it. But I'm still looking for the perfect pattern :-) I'll make one in pink colours and one in blues.

Cadeautje voor mezelf: Pepijn :-)
Mag ik jullie voorstellen aan Pepijn, mijn nieuwe kleine maatje!
Ooit lang geleden heb ik een mooie reis gemaakt naar Indonesië en daar maakte ik kennis met de 'cikcak', oftewel de gekko. Deze kleine hagedisjes leven in huizen, op muren en zo en eten muggen en vliegen. Ze maken een 'tjik-tjak' geluid, vandaar hun naam.
Vanaf het moment dat ik begon amigurumi te haken, wilde ik er ooit eentje haken, en dat is nu eindelijk gebeurd!
Het heeft een tijdje geduurd voor ik een patroon vond dat naar mijn zin was. Uiteindelijk heb ik dit patroon van Oombawka Design aangeschaft.
Het patroon is niet heel moeilijk, maar was wel wat gepruts omdat ik hem met een haaknaald 2.5 heb gemaakt, i.p.v. de 4 die in het patroon wordt genoemd. :-)
Helaas kan Pepijn niet echt op mijn muren en plafond lopen om muggen te vangen.
Maar hij kan wel morele ondersteuning bieden bij mijn haakwerk :-)
Ik heb zo'n idee dat er in de toekomst nog wel een paar meer cikcakjes uit mijn haaknaald zullen komen, in verschillende kleuren!

Once upon a time I made a beautiful trip to Indonesia, where I learned about the 'cikcak', the gecko. These small lizzards live in houses, on walls and ceilings and catch musquitos and flies. The noise they make sounds like 'chick-chack', hence their name.
From the moment I started making amigurumi I wanted to crochet a gecko and I finally did!
It took me a while to find a pattern I liked. I chose to purchase this pattern by Oombawka Design.
The pattern isn't really difficult, but it was a bit fiddly because I made him with a 2.5 mm hook instead of the 4.00 mm the pattern mentions. :-)
Unfortunately Pepijn can't really walk on my walls and ceilings to catch musquitos, but he can give moral support during my crochet work :-)
I wouldn't be at all surprised if some more cikcaks will emerge from my hook in future, in different colours!

Ik heb hem namelijk gemaakt met Creative Cotton en haaknaald 3,5 en dat was niet ideaal. Volgende keer maak ik zoiets ofwel van acryl ofwel met dunner katoen in een kleinere versie. Het haken van de tenen/vingers volgens het patroon was zo'n ontzettend gepruts dat ik er gewoon op blokkeerde. Na één teen legde ik het werk weer minstens een dag terzijde. Tot ik een makkelijker (zij het wellicht wat minder mooie) manier vond om de vingers te maken. Pfffft.
Maar nu is hij dan af!

Well, not on the first picture of course. Though that is how he looked some time ago. And the next photo describes how he was to be. But, as ordered, he became a little bit different.
Tadah! No banana, but with scarf! He is from the book you see on the picture.
And I fumbled with his hands. You see, I made him with a thick cotton (Creative Cotton) and needle 3.5 mm and that wasn't ideal. Next time I will make something like this either with acrylic yarn or with thinner cotton. Crocheting the fingers and toes according to the pattern turned out to be really a fuss and I became so discouraged. After making 1 toe I threw the project aside for at least a day. Until I found an easier (albeit probablly less nice looking) way to make the fingers. Phew!
But here he is then!
